What’s more romantic than a hot tub date? If you’re looking for something special to do this Valentine’s Day – or any day for that matter – treat your loved one to a relaxing spa experience.

Hoping to impress but don’t know where to begin? Here are our top hot tub date night ideas…

Use lighting to set the mood

Dim, cosy lighting is the best way to go when creating a romantic atmosphere. Our coloured hot tub lights should help you to set the right mood, plus you could light a few lanterns or candles. Bonus points if the candles are scented!

Add some aromatherapy

Following on from the previous point, you can take your date up a notch with some sweet-smelling candles or essential oils. Creating the ultimate relaxing experience for your date is sure to make them feel extra special.

Make a romantic playlist

The music you choose will set the tone for the date, so make sure you pick something you both love. Maybe you have a favourite song or artist as a couple? If you want to be really romantic you could even create a personalised playlist for your date.

If all else fails, popping on a romantic Spotify playlist will do nicely – you’ll hopefully be too busy chatting anyway!

Organise a post-dip dinner

Eating immediately before entering a hot tub or during use is not advised – besides, crumbs in your hot tub is not the least bit romantic.

However, after a nice relaxing soak, what better way to keep the date going than with a delicious candle-lit dinner? You could order from your favourite restaurant or cook something together from scratch.

Pop a bottle of bubbly

No Valentine’s date night is complete without popping open a bottle of bubbly. Why not impress your date with a hot tub drinks table?

That way, you’ll be able to keep your drinks close by without having to hold them the whole time or worry about spilling them.

You can even keep the champagne on ice – our drinks table is big enough for an ice bucket and two (plastic) glasses.

If champagne isn’t your thing, we recommend a fun Valentine’s cocktail like this BBC Good Food recipe to add a bit of fun to your date.

Please note: It’s important to remember that drinking alcohol while using a hot tub can cause you to become dehydrated due to your body’s increased temperature. Higher temperatures can also cause alcohol to be absorbed by the bloodstream faster than normal, so you may feel drunk more quickly. Always drink in moderation and exit the hot tub carefully if you start to feel unwell. For more information, see Is It Safe to Drink Alcohol in a Hot Tub?

Relax and enjoy each other’s company

Ditch the electronic devices and focus on each other. Here are some simple, romantic activities to include in your hot tub date night:

  • Stargazing - If your hot tub is located outdoors, you could spend the evening gazing at the stars – it doesn’t get more romantic than that!
  • Massage - Your spa jets will already be doing all the hard work for you, but if you want to get a little closer to your date, they might appreciate a massage from you.
  • Playing cards – Hot tub dates don’t necessarily need to be super romantic. Playing a fun game of cards can be a great way to bring you two closer together. Make sure you invest in a deck of waterproof cards though!
